Trails
Coal Canyon is perfect for riders of all levels of expertise and skill. The system is rider-centric by design and family friendly, making it the perfect spot for days of fun. Southern Gap Outdoor Adventure (SGOA), located at the trailhead, offers tent camping, full service RV sites and furnished cabins. In conjunction with the Breaks Interstate Park, the Southwest Virginia Sportsman's Club and the Coalfields Chapter Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation, elk viewing tours are organized.
The Visitor Center is also a perfect venue for large gatherings and may be rented through SGOA. Ridgeview Trail- Connects to Coal Canyon trail. |

Jewell Valley Trail Head
17362 Dismal River Road Whitewood, VA 24657 The Jewell Valley ATV and Multi-Use Family Trail is open from sunrise to sunset and offers approximately 30 miles of riding – 6.5 miles of which are off-road, the remaining 23.5 miles are on hardtop. The trailhead is adjacent to the Whitewood Community Center. A Jewell Valley permit is required. Permits are $15 (good for one year) and can be purchased at Buddy's Gas N Go, located near the trail head. |

Bull Creek Pedestrian and Bike Trail
1046 Convict Hollow Road Grundy, VA 24614 The Bull Creek Trail is open from sunrise to sunset and offers 1.5 miles of riding. All dogs must be on a leash. It is relatively flat with a crushed stone surface. Trail head is at Convict Hollow, access is also available from the nearby Harman Gymnasium. |

Mike Young Bike Trail
1350 Slate Creek Road Grundy, VA 24614 The Mike Young Bike Trail is open from sunrise to sunset. All dogs must be on a leash. At 2.8 miles in length, the trail is moderate in difficulty with an average grade of nine percent and multiple switchbacks. A graveled trail head with signage is located on Rt.83 (Slate Creek). |
