The flow of the rivers in Buchanan County along the Levisa River and the Dismal River offer fishermen a multitude of fishing opportunities for both trout and bass.
 
Kayaks are welcome on the Levisa River, however the season for kayaking is limited to early spring and periods of rainfall in the summer months and fall which make the river navigable by kayak.
 
In the fall, during the weekends of the month of October, whitewater rafting featuring up to Class V rapids is offered on the Russell Fork River in the Breaks Interstate Park.
